The string line block named after the bricklayer who invented it
The best tools often come from the people using them every day. The Dori Block is exactly that — Dorian, a working bricklayer, brought the idea to BT Engineering, and it’s now one of the most widely used string line blocks in the bricklaying trade.
What it does
A Dori Block sits on the profile and holds two string lines running in both directions at once — meaning you can set your corner and your return at the same time, with the string lines locked in true position. No more juggling pins, no more losing tension when a line catches on something.
Why it matters for your work
- Two string lines, one block — set both directions simultaneously
- Fits 50.8mm UK profiles — sized for standard box-section profiles
- Faster setup than pins — especially on corners and returns
- Zinc-plated — resists corrosion on wet sites
Specifications
- Fits 50.8mm (2″) UK bricklaying profiles
- Holds two string lines running both directions

Also available in the improved Long Sided version (UDBL), the Dentil version (10022) for dentil brickwork, and a lightweight Plastic version (DB PLASTIC). Proudly Australian-made and owned. Part of BT Engineering’s complete bricklaying profile system.

The best way to continuously string a line on a 135 degree wall. I like that the screw that tightens the block to the pole is offset from the middle so you are tightening on the “strong” part of the pole.
